What to eat to clean the kidneys

The kidneys are the main organ of the excretory system responsible for filtering. Almost 180 liters of blood pass through them every day, which they purify from chemicals, metabolites and dead cells.

The kidneys are responsible for the production of urine, regulate the chemical composition of the fluids contained in our bodies. Thus, the balance of the internal environment of the body largely depends on them. The kidneys have their own self-cleaning mechanism, but we are also able to help them by eating food. Moreover, poor ecology and chronic stress can negatively affect the organ and disrupt its functioning.

When kidney cleansing is needed

The kidneys are a paired organ located on both sides of the spine below the ribs. They play an important role in cleansing the entire body of decay products, maintain the balance of electrolytes and take part in the production of hormones. This happens when the kidneys are healthy. But sometimes they send us signals that they themselves need cleaning.

Organ dysfunction can affect our appearance. Sometimes kidney problems can be recognized by swollen lower eyelids or white spots on the nails. In some cases, against the background of dysfunction of the urinary system, the upper lip swells and changes its shape. But perhaps the most obvious signal that something is wrong with the kidneys is the color and smell of urine.

Signals that may indicate the need to clean the kidneys of toxins: swelling around the eyes; swelling of the hands, feet, ankles; painful urination; very dark urine; cloudy urine with an odor of ammonia; the appearance of "foam" in the urine.

If you can’t help the kidneys in time, you can soon find yourself with a whole “bouquet” of ailments: high blood pressure, drowsiness, lethargy, pallor. Any of the above symptoms is a serious reason to immediately consult a doctor. It is possible that any of these signs signals the development of a disease that cannot be cured by natural means at home. Cleansing the kidneys with the help of a special diet can be carried out with good health - for prevention, or as an auxiliary method to the main treatment (but only after the doctor’s approval). Cleansing the kidneys helps to remove excess uric acid and its salts from the body. Namely, these substances cause the formation of stones and the development of gout.

How to clean your kidneys

Cleansing the kidneys is a very simple process. As a rule, for this procedure you will not need either complex tools or hard-to-reach ingredients. In fact, all that is needed for purification is water. Drinking plenty of fluids daily is the first and easiest step to effectively and quickly cleanse the entire body, including the kidneys, of toxic substances.

The adult human body is almost 60% water. Every organ of our body - from the brain to the liver - needs moisture to function properly. The kidneys, as part of the filtration system, also require a lot of water for the formation of urine, because it is with its help that the body gets rid of unnecessary substances. When water intake is insufficient, urine volume decreases, and this is fraught with the formation of kidney stones and organ dysfunction. So that the urinary system can function properly and harmful substances do not stagnate, at least 2 liters of water should be drunk per day.

In addition, people have long noticed that some vegetables, fruits and herbs have a more powerful diuretic effect than ordinary pure water. And if you need to cause frequent urination, these products will be very helpful.

Kidney Cleansing Herbs

One of the popular methods for cleansing the kidneys is through herbs. Decoctions and teas from medicinal plants, as a rule, create a diuretic effect, due to which toxins are more quickly eliminated from the body. Usually, parsley, dandelion root, ginger, turmeric, nettle, horsetail, bearberry are used for such purposes.

Take at least parsley. This spicy greens creates a rather strong diuretic effect.

A drink from fresh parsley (1 teaspoon of herbs per 1 cup of boiling water) is useful to drink at least 1 time per day, when it is necessary to quickly remove harmful chemicals from the body. In addition, parsley is useful for treating bacterial diseases of the urinary system.

Dandelion is also known for its diuretic properties. This plant prevents stagnation of fluid in the tissues, and also relieves urinary tract irritation. To get the desired effect, it is useful to drink tea from the crushed dandelion roots twice a day.

Ginger tea is an excellent remedy for various kidney diseases. In a drink made from 1 teaspoon of ginger and 1 cup boiling water, it is useful to add honey and lemon juice to enhance the therapeutic effect.

Turmeric is also known for its anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties. A natural medicine for cleansing the kidneys is prepared from 1 teaspoon of fresh turmeric juice, 1 cup of boiling water, juice from half a lemon, honey and cayenne pepper. Such a drink should be taken 1 time per day.

Tea made from fresh or dry nettles is recommended when it is necessary to clear the urinary system from stones or in the presence of inflammatory processes. Nettle leaves contain antioxidants that prevent oxidative processes in the body.

Probably many people like hydrangeas - lush bushes with lavender, pink, blue and white flowers. Recently, scientists have discovered that this plant can be not only an ornament, but also a medicine. As it turned out, hydrangea kidney tea is an excellent antioxidant drink, useful for cleansing the urinary system.

Another useful plant for cleansing the kidneys is horsetail. In addition to diuretic properties, it is a good antioxidant. In addition, the plant contains the substance arbutin, known as a natural disinfectant.

Infusion of young leaves of blackcurrant also helps to cleanse the kidneys of harmful substances. The drink is prepared from 3 tablespoons of leaves and 500 ml of boiling water. Insist 20 minutes, then filter. After this, the infusion should be brought to a boil over low heat and add 2 tablespoons of currant berries to it. All together insist 3 hours. Take half a glass. The uniqueness of this drink is that you can drink it all year long.

In addition to soft cleaning of the kidneys, a decoction of leaves and berries of currant is an amazing treasury of vitamins and minerals, indispensable for the whole body.

Vegetables and fruits to cleanse the kidneys

A good addition to the program for cleansing the kidneys with herbs is a special diet rich in vegetables and fruits with a diuretic and detox effect. Diuretic vegetables:

  • celery;
  • cucumber;
  • parsley;
  • dill;
  • carrot;
  • broccoli;
  • bow;
  • garlic.

Berries with a diuretic effect:

  • watermelon;
  • Strawberry;
  • gooseberry;
  • blueberries;
  • cranberry.

You can achieve a good result with freshly squeezed vegetable juices, which should be taken on an empty stomach. For kidneys, carrot, celery, and parsley root are most useful. They can be drunk both separately and mixing in different proportions. A good cleansing effect is provided by a drink made from parsley juice (a quarter cup), water (a quarter cup), lemon juice and honey.

If you have kidney problems, be sure to pay attention to the dogrose. A decoction of ripe berries of a wild rose is useful to drink at least twice a day. The drink is prepared from 2 tablespoons of berries and 1 cup of water. All boil together for 15 minutes, insist and take 2-3 times a day for a third of a glass.

Cranberry juice is one of the most popular and most effective natural remedies for improving the functionality of the urinary system. Cranberries help cleanse the kidneys of excess calcium oxalate, which contributes to the formation of stones. But you should know that only fresh cranberry juice has a pronounced cleansing effect. If you buy a drink in a store, then be sure to choose without sugar, preservatives or artificial flavors.

Beetroot juice contains the substance betaine, which has antioxidant properties. Beetroot is good for the kidneys, if only because it helps to remove excess calcium phosphate, thereby reducing the likelihood of stone formation.

Natural lemon juice increases the concentration of citrate in the urine, which also prevents the formation of kidney stones. To achieve a cleansing effect, a juice drink of 4-5 lemons and 1 liter of warm water is suitable.

Apple juice effectively cleanses not only the kidneys, but also the liver and gall bladder. But as with most other fruit or vegetable juices, you must use a freshly prepared product. The cleansing program with apple juice is designed for 3 days. These days, the drink should be consumed strictly by the hour: at 8 in the morning, then at 10, 12, 13 16, 18 and at 20 hours. The first two and last two receptions consist of 1 cup of juice, the rest of the time you should drink 2 cups of the drink.

Grapes are useful for the kidneys primarily due to the content of resveratrol. This substance is a good prevention of inflammation and polycystic kidney disease. The healing effect not only for the urinary system, but also for the liver and pancreas is created by algae. The results of scientific experiments have shown that it is enough to use this product for 22 days to reduce the risk of kidney disease.

Vitamins and minerals for cleaning the excretory system

Calcium. Many people mistakenly believe that refusing calcium-rich foods can help prevent kidney stones from forming. In fact, the opposite is true. To eliminate the need to think about cleansing the kidneys, doctors recommend consuming 1.2 g of calcium daily.

Vitamin B6. This useful substance is involved in many metabolic processes in the body. In particular, vitamin B6 is essential for glyoxylate metabolism. But if the body lacks vitamin, oxalates are formed instead of glycine, and those, in turn, lead to the formation of kidney stones. To avoid such unpleasant consequences, at least 50 mg of vitamin B6 should be taken daily.

Omega 3. The standard diet of modern humans contains more omega-6 acids, which can cause inflammation, and incredibly few healthy omega-3 fats. Studies show that over-consumption of omega-6-rich foods can lead to kidney stones. This process can be prevented naturally using food with omega-3s (oily sea fish, fish oil).

Potassium citrate. Potassium is an indispensable element for maintaining the balance of electrolytes and urine pH. Potassium citrate therapy reduces the risk of kidney stones. This substance is especially useful for people who have previously had a need to cleanse the urinary system.

The kidneys are one of the most important organs in our body, on the correct functionality of which, without exaggeration, our life depends. But without a balanced diet, toxic substances can accumulate in the body and impair kidney function. To prevent this, they need a special power system. Although it is occasionally useful to treat them with products with a cleansing effect. But it is more correct to approach the issue of body cleansing comprehensively: a healthy nutrition system should be adhered to daily, and not just during kidney cleansing.
